Class Information – Lead Renovator Requirements
EPA requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and schools be certified by EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices. Individuals can become certified renovators by taking a Lead Renovator training course from an EPA approved training provider.
New OSHA Regulations Initiate Updated Hoisting, Rigging and Signaling Program
What You Must Do To Comply
Beginning in November, 2010, new OSHA regulations regarding “Qualified Signal Persons” and “Qualified Riggers” go into effect. The Laborers-AGC Training Center, in cooperation with the LIUNA Training & Education Fund, will shortly introduce four (4) new courses that will provide training and certification for “Qualified Signal Persons” and “Qualified Riggers”, as well as refresher training in both areas.
If you have previously completed Hoisting, Rigging and Signaling training through the Training Center, you must successfully complete the appropriate refresher in order to be in compliance with the new OSHA regulations. This “REFRESHER OPTION” for individuals that have previously completed Hoisting Rigging and Signaling training through the Training Center will only be available throughout 2011. Beginning January 1, 2012, the “REFRESHER OPTION” for training conducted before November, 2010, will cease and all individuals wishing to receive “Qualified Signal Person” and or “Qualified Rigger” certification will be required to complete the appropriate Initial Worker course(s).
